Holzkirchen Archive

Holzkirken Women in Black were active from 2003 until 2016.

Time and place: first and third Saturday of the month from 11 to 12 in Holzkirchen, old town hall opposite the marketplace

About: March 29th in 2003 started the Holzkirchen vigil. A few days after the outbreak of war in Irak which began as an invasion against international law by the USA and their alliance partners a small group of about 10 women was standing in front of the old town hall opposite the marketplace. We are committed to peace with justice and actively opposed to injustice, war, militarism and all kinds of violence. We hold our vigil every week (see above) wearing black, carrying placards with the shape of a black hand and a specific theme written in white letters. The vigil is not restricted for women only. Everybody is important and welcome. The Holzkirchen vigil is part of the Women in Black (WiB) worldwide network of women. Every month we organize a film or political matinee referring to a specific theme (see documents and events) in the Fools Theatre in Holzkirchen.
